I had the pleasure of assisting Netflix Games with their newest addition to the Squid Game IP: Squid Game Unleashed. I collaborated with the art team to concept 50 skins as well as several environments for the game.
I had a lot of fun designing Glomoids, the primary enemies for Nickelodeon: Multiverse Match. These guys posed a unique design challenge because as a “multiverse” game, we had 7 different IPs with varying art styles that the Glomoids needed to look at home next to. In the end I capitalized on classic cartoon shapes to create some new-yet-nostalgic grunts.
I worked on many of Reset Replay’s characters, most notably the player character, Mason, and all of the stylized animals that appear in-game.
For the Mason design I tried something new- once we landed on a concept the team liked, I painted him into some vignettes so we could verify that he looked like he belonged in his own story. I had a lot of fun with this method and would try it again!
Since Reset Replay is set in Alaska, I spent a lot of time walking around rural Alaskan towns in Google street view looking for real-life references and inspiration. In this gallery are some examples of my concepts, ideations, and callouts. In them you’ll see concept art as well as finished illustrations and references.
Some of these are really big- click to see the details!
My goal here was to create some exciting new visual language for time control. My inspirations were the Aurora Borealis, states of matter, and black holes. In my explorations I established visuals for solid time, liquid time, and free time, which would each correspond to a different time-manipulation skill.
I also established visuals for time scabs- areas/objects impacted by too much time manipulation.
